The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) has completed another week of participation in the Spanish University Championships 2026, competing in women’s futsal, 3×3 basketball, and mountain running, with events held in Granada and Córdoba.
In women’s futsal, played in Granada, the team did not manage to advance past the group stage despite showing a high competitive level. The Elche-based side opened with a draw (1-1) against the University of Salamanca but lost their next two matches against the University of Granada (1-2), in a game decided in the final moments, and against the Polytechnic University of Madrid (3-0). Despite the results, the team made a strong impression, confirming their status as CADU champions and establishing themselves as a solid and competitive group that gained high-level national experience.
Also in Granada, the 3×3 basketball competition took place, where UMH competed in both men’s and women’s categories. The women’s team, after failing to pass the group stage, fought for the final positions and, after winning both of their matches, finished 17th in Spain. Meanwhile, the men’s team delivered an outstanding performance, advancing through the group stage and round of 16 before falling in the quarterfinals to UCAM (11-18), placing them among the top teams in the tournament.
The best results of the week came from Córdoba, host of the mountain running events. Pedro De la Torre secured an excellent silver medal, becoming the Spanish university runner-up. Additionally, the women’s team achieved a strong collective result by finishing third overall, earning a place on the national podium.
In this way, UMH closes another intense week of competition at the CEU 2026 with notable results, especially in mountain running, and with recognition for the effort and competitive level shown by its teams across all disciplines.
