The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) and Club Taekwondo Ilice have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at promoting the practice and competition of taekwondo within the university environment.
The agreement was signed by UMH’s Delegate of the Rector for Healthy Campuses and Sports, Raúl Reina, and the president of Club Taekwondo Ilice, José Javier Sáez. Also attending the event were area coordinator and promoter of the agreement José Manuel Sarabia, director of the Healthy Campus and Sports Office Álvaro Coves, and UMH sports competitions technician Luisa Rodríguez.
The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration to develop joint initiatives focused on the promotion, technical development and competition of taekwondo, especially in the university context. Among other objectives, it will strengthen the preparation of UMH athletes taking part in official competitions such as the Regional University Championships (CADU) and the Spanish University Championships (CEU), where taekwondo is already included as an official discipline.
In addition, the partnership will provide specialised technical support during competitions and create new opportunities for practising taekwondo at the university’s sports facilities, particularly in the dojo room of the Palau dels Esports Miguel Hernández.
According to UMH, this agreement is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda, particularly those related to health and well-being and partnerships for achieving common goals.
