UMH hosts the IV Women’s Cycling Challenge of the Valencian Community #TalentoEnMovimiento

The Elche campus of the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche (UMH) will host the IV Women’s Cycling Challenge of the Valencian Community #TalentoEnMovimiento this Saturday, April 18th, starting at 4:00 PM. This event stands out as an important initiative to promote women’s sport through cycling.

The competition is co-organized by the Rector’s Office for Healthy Campuses and Sports, together with the Federación de Ciclismo de la Comunidad Valenciana, the Unión Ciclista Ilicitana, and the Ayuntamiento de Elche. It also benefits from the collaboration of the UMH Equality Unit and Casa de la Dona.

A fast and dynamic urban circuit

The start and finish line will be located on the road between the Palau dels Esports and the El Clot Sports Training Complex, within the university campus. The route will continue along the northern parking area, the Pantano road, and Avenida de la Universidad, re-entering the campus through the Rectorate and Social Council building.

Compared to previous editions, this year’s circuit is faster and more suitable for breakaways, with intermediate sprint points (Metas Volantes) offering prizes across different categories.

Two races and strong participation

The event will feature two races including cyclists from several categories: Sub-23, Master 60, Master 50, Master 40, Master 30, Junior, Elite, and Cadet.

Around 100 athletes from 15 to 20 teams are expected to participate, consolidating this event as a key fixture in the regional women’s cycling calendar.

Promoting women’s sport

The competition aims to highlight female talent in sport. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category, as well as to the best teams in the cadet, junior, and elite-sub23 categories.

Through initiatives like this, UMH reinforces its commitment to equality and the promotion of women’s sport.
