The University of Valencia collects the highest number of awards with three trophies out of the four available
Last Tuesday, February 14, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche organized the CADU of Frontenis at the facilities of the Juan Ángel Romero Sports City.
At around 10:00 a.m., the day began, which was played on three fronton courts -one covered and two uncovered- and which brought together a total of 36 athletes: 22 men and 14 women. The competition was divided into three categories -male, female and mixed-, in which 42 games were played throughout the morning. Despite the gusts of wind that caused the morning weather, the competition was played without notable incidents, with remarkable sportsmanship and aptitude on the part of the athletes.
Around 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon, the competition ended, giving victory in the Mixed category to Sergi Sapiña and Isabel Pascual, from the Miguel Hernández University, against Isabel Monzonís and Juan Pastor, who took the silver to the University of Valencia. The female category crowned Lucía Deusa and Judith Montero, giving the first victory of the day to the UV, leaving second and third place to Eva Giner and Carmen Toro from the UPV and Alba Arquimbau and Mónica Sánchez from the UJI, respectively.
After two semifinals and a heart-stopping final, the men’s category also fell to the UV thanks to Rubén Moreno and Cristian Stanciu. The runners-up were Alejandro Deusa and Joan Pascual, from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and the twins Pablo and Eloy Penalva from the UCV completed the podium.
Finally, the final classification by universities gave UV the third victory of the day, with 28 points. Second place went to the UPV, with 24 points, and third to the UMH, with 18 points.
The UMH congratulates all the athletes and appreciates the participation of the Valencian universities in the day.
