The UMH Elche Campus hosts for the first time the WO&MAN RAID
2 February 2026
The Elche Campus of the Miguel Hernández University will be the setting this Saturday for the arrival of the WO&MAN RAID, an urban and nature raid that is coming to the city for the first time and whose objective is to promote equality and the presence of women in orienteering and adventure sports.
The delegate of the rector for Healthy Campuses and Sports, Raúl Reina, received this morning the official poster of the event from the head of the organization, Javier Gonzálvez, in the space of the campus where the awards ceremony will be held.
The WO&MAN RAID, organized by the Raidermania Elx Club and supported by the Higher Sports Council and the Spanish and Valencian Orienteering Federations, will bring together teams of two or three participants in a test that combines strategy, orienteering and mountain-related sports disciplines, such as trekking or mountain biking.
The competition will begin at 10:00 AM on Paseo de la Estación, from where a route will start, allowing participants to discover some of Elche’s most emblematic landmarks. Teams will have six hours to complete as many checkpoints as possible and achieve the highest score.
In line with its commitment to equality, the event subsidizes the registration of the first 80 female participants, an initiative promoted by the Higher Sports Council to reinforce the female presence, encourage mixed teams and highlight the role of women in a sport where decision-making and guidance are key elements.
The day will also include a mini-raid for children under 16, starting at 12:00 PM and lasting a maximum of three hours. In this activity, children and teenagers can try orienteering accompanied by an adult, on a route that includes a special activity on the UMH golf course.
The finish line and the awards ceremony will be located in the Palau dels Esports Miguel Hernández square, where a communal lunch will also be held next to the Healthy Oasis on campus.
